Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate highlights a pressing issue in the community: stolen firearms from vehicles, which are contributing to a rise in gun violence. Last week, over 30 cars were broken into in an area where multiple shootings occurred, resulting in three stolen guns, and Neudigate reported that approximately 10% of vehicle break-ins lead to firearms entering the hands of unauthorized individuals.

In response to the surge in gun thefts, local lawmakers have proposed stronger firearm safety laws, although recent measures have faced vetoes from Governor Glenn Youngkin.
