Viktos Counteract 15 Backpack Review

I especially love “CCW” backpacks, those bags geared toward carrying your pistol and all the other tactical jetsam we like to tote such as spare magazines, flashlights, stun grenades, neuralyzer and weapons-grade jerky.

The trouble with most CCW backpacks is the fact they don’t really perform well in the “I need my handgun RIGHT NOW!”-situations due to the gyrations needed in order to access your gun. Zippers, flaps, buckles and shoulder straps all have to align properly before you can get your shootin’ iron. By then, you certainly aren’t The Quick and you just might be The Dead.

Enter the Viktos Counteract 15 backpack. By means of an ingenious front-and-center pocket, you can realistically access your gun nearly as fast as you can reach for said hogleg. The flap of the pocket can be buckled for security but also incorporates Velcro and two magnetic snaps. If things look dicey, leave it unbuckled and you can draw a pistol nearly as fast as from a holster. The included Hookie holster fits up to a full-size duty weapon and also includes a Velcro magazine pouch.

It’s not a huge pack, just 18x12x5″, but should hold just enough stuff for a day at the office including a 17″ laptop. The fabric is water- and stain-resistant and the inside includes a variety of useful pockets for all your more mundane stuff. If you are looking for off-body carry that doesn’t look “tacticool” yet allows you to access your firearm in the blink of an eye, I’m betting you’ll like the Viktos Counteract 15.
