More than 200,000 targets were donated by White Flyer—part of the Winchester Ammunition family of firms—to South Dakota’s new shooting sports complex, which officially opened to the public on November 8. The 400-acre Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex, which is operated by South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (SDGFP), is located in Piedmont, S.D.

“The South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks have created an incredible new shooting sports facility that will play a critical role in introducing new generations to the sport through education and outreach,” said Jason Gilbertson, senior director of marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “The Winchester and White Flyer brands support this incredible complex that will promote responsibility, safety and community in the shooting sports.”

The site includes multiple shooting ranges that cater to a variety of disciplines, including sporting clays, long-range rifle, action shooting, pistol, shotgun and archery. In addition, educational programs and training opportunities for participants of all ages and skill levels are offered.

The facility, which is in rolling topography ideal for shooting sports, is intended to be the premier firearms range complex in the state. In May 2025, SDGFP announced Pete Lien & Sons enlisted as a major sponsor of the site, and combined with the generosity of other enthusiasts and companies, construction was completed by early November.

“We are extremely pleased with all of the support and excitement for the shooting sports complex and our Second Amendment rights in South Dakota,” Kevin Robling, SDGFP secretary said at the time. “We want to thank all of our partners and everyone who has contributed to the complex, and we cannot wait to celebrate with them.”
