Glock issued a press release on October 21, stating an all new “V” Series is expected to hit shelves by December. The company’s list of discontinued models grew significantly only a few days before, causing widespread speculation.
“As part of Glock’s commitment to future innovations, we are making necessary updates to our product line to align with upcoming offerings,” the announcement explains. “Our dedication continues to be with maintaining the highest level of quality, reliability and accessibility that you expect from Glock.”
New models will include the: G17 V; G19 V; G19X V; G45 V; G26 V; G20 V MOS; G23 V; G23 V MOS; G21 V MOS; and G44 V. There will also be four distributor-exclusive pistols—G19C V, G45C V, G17C V and G19X V MOS TB. A distinctive “V” will appear on the frame of all new models.
“In order to focus on the products that will drive future innovation and growth, we are making a strategic decision to reduce our current commercial portfolio,” the press release explains. “This streamlined approach allows us to concentrate on continuing to deliver the highest-quality and most relevant solutions for the market,” according to the above-linked discontinued models webpage. The company will continue servicing all of its pistols, including discontinued models.
Company Expansions
Range USA held the grand opening of its 50th location on October 17. The new Chester, Va., site features 15,000 square feet of retail and range space, including 20 public 25-yard shooting lanes and two classrooms with 20-person capacity. The store offers a wide variety of firearm education courses, including private lessons, concealed carry certification and basic handgun instruction.
“The store was packed throughout the weekend. We appreciate everyone who attended and made the grand opening of our 50th location such a special event,” said Tom Willingham, founder and CEO of Range USA.
Bass Pro Shops made its name in the fishing and boating industries, but it and its sister company, Cabela’s, also handle shooting equipment and more. On October 29, it held a grand opening at its new Odessa, Texas, store. The 100,000-sq.-ft. retail location is the firm’s 18th location in the Lone Star state.
Meanwhile, the company also announced plans for a new destination retail location for Victor, N.Y. Once open, it will be Bass Pro Shops’ fifth store in The Empire State, serving the entire Finger Lakes Region. The company’s plans call for a 90,000-sq.-ft. site. “We have a great deal of passion for this entire region and the amazing range of outdoor recreation options it offers,” said Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops’ founder.
Companies Moving
Outdoor Holding Company (OHC), owner of GunBroker.com, has moved its corporate headquarters from Scottsdale, Ariz., to Atlanta, Ga. The relocation is part of efforts to reduce corporate overhead and control indirect costs. The Arizona facility will be decommissioned.
“We are returning to our roots by relocating our headquarters to Atlanta, home of our GunBroker operations,” said OHC CEO and Chairman of the Board Steve Urvan. “This necessary action is part of my previously announced efforts to reduce redundancies, lower indirect costs, and improve corporate efficiencies as we strive to grow…”
