A local organization, the Persayus Way Project, hosts its second annual Summer Cookout in Youngstown, Ohio, to honor the memory of children who have fallen victim to gun violence. The event, which provided free food, resources, and fun activities for children, specifically commemorates the birthday of Persayus Davis-May, a 10-year-old who was shot and killed in 2021, highlighting the ongoing impact of such tragedies on the community.

CEO Million Perry-Phifer emphasizes the importance of community involvement, stating that change begins at home, but requires collective effort to create a safer environment for children. The Persayus Way Project not only aims to honor lost lives but also works year-round to engage local youth in enriching activities aimed at community betterment, with plans for additional outreach events in the near future.
