Utah announces a significant increase in nonresident hunting fees, set to double for the upcoming season, with costs for a limited entry multi-season bull elk tag skyrocketing from $1,855 to a staggering $3,710. This decision follows a pattern of recent fee hikes aimed at nonresident hunters, part of Senate Bill 8, which has already passed the state legislature and awaits the governor’s signature.

This dramatic price increase could deter a substantial number of out-of-state hunters from applying, impacting the state’s revenue and DIY hunting market. While nonresident fees climb steeply, resident fees remain unchanged, highlighting a trend where nonresidents are expected to absorb the financial burden as states seek to balance budgets and fund wildlife management efforts.
