A woman has died after being found shot in the front yard of a home in Kansas City’s South Blue Valley neighborhood on Saturday evening. Officers were dispatched shortly before 7 p.m. to investigate reports of gunfire in the 5600 block of East 29th Street, where they discovered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds; emergency medical crews later declared her deceased.

This incident marks the 36th homicide in Kansas City in 2025, a concerning increase from 31 at the same time last year. As detectives gather evidence and seek witnesses in the area, police are urging anyone with information to reach out anonymously to the TIPS Hotline, where anonymous tips can earn a reward of up to $25,000. The investigation is ongoing as the community grapples with a significant rise in violent crime, rekindling fears of safety in a city that recorded its deadliest year in 2023.
