During the foot chase that ensued, Best was shot and later pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
The NAACP emphasized the community’s need for transparency and accountability in the wake of the tragedy, as it collaborates with the state Office of Inspector General overseeing the investigation. Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has also expressed eagerness for clarity, noting that body camera footage will be released per state law.
