A Florida man, Jeffrey O. Kennerk, has been indicted in Trenton for allegedly boarding an Amtrak train with an arsenal of weapons, including assault rifles, handguns, and a booby-trapped rifle that discharged during his arrest. Authorities found him on January 3 carrying multiple large-capacity ammunition magazines and silencers, raising serious safety concerns for passengers aboard the train.

The incident began when a New Jersey Transit Police officer discovered an abandoned suitcase at Newark Penn Station containing a loaded handgun, leading to a wider investigation. Kennerk, who briefly left the bag to buy a ticket to Virginia, was apprehended in Trenton where law enforcement unearthed even more firearms and ammunition, resulting in serious charges including aggravated assault and unlawful possession of weapons.
