Georgia Southern University is set to host a women’s firearms safety class on Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at its Shooting Sports Education Center. This course, which blends classroom instruction with practical range training, aims to empower women with essential knowledge and skills for safe firearm use—something Cassandra Pelton, assistant director of the center, emphasizes as life-saving for both the individual and the community.
The hands-on training allows participants to practice with four different firearms, including a .22 and a 9 mm, while learning crucial safety laws in an environment designed to facilitate questions and discussions. With limited enrollment to ensure personal attention, this class represents a commitment to fostering a safe space for women interested in firearms education. The next class after this session is scheduled for October 14, further extending opportunities for learning at the university’s advanced facility.
