Just like with its centerfire rifles, Savage Arms offers a wide selection of rimfire long guns that cover a range of price points and are tailored to specific uses. The semi-automatic A22 and bolt-action B Series rifles anchor the company’s rimfire selection. Last year, the company introduced the Timber series of rimfire precision rifles with these models, which offered enhanced features for a reasonable price. New for 2025 are the A22 and B Series Timber Tactical rifles.
Though they use different action types, the new bolt-action and semi-automatic Timber Tactical models share common features. Most obvious is their olive drab green laminated wood stock that has a target-style vertical grip, a rear hook for the offhand when using a bipod or rest, and two forward quick-detachable sling swivel studs to allow for mounting bipods and slings at the same time.
The other obvious visual is their 18” heavy-profile barrels that have deep spiral fluting and muzzles threaded 1/2×28 TPI. Each is supplied with a thread protector. A 20-m.o.a. Picatinny rail is mounted on their receivers, and both rifles have Savage’s adjustable AccuTrigger and a detachable rotary magazine (10-round capacities in .22 LR and .17 HMR and 9-round capacity in .22 WMR).
The bolt-action B Series Timber Tactical is available chambered in .17 HMR, .22 LR or .22 WMR and weighs 6.6 lbs. The semi-auto A22 Timber Tactical rifle is chambered in .22 LR and weighs 6.6 lbs.
