Magazines are the bane of any semiauto pistol, and even the best will eventually wear out. Due to the huge number of makers, it can be surprisingly hard to find good 1911 mags, especially in calibers that aren’t .45 ACP. Enter Ed Brown’s updated fixed-base magazine. Made from stainless steel, they come in 9mm, .38 Super, 10mm or .45 ACP and are drilled and tapped for slam pads. Helpfully, they also come with two pads in various sizes so you can choose a flat mag base or whatever size you need to clear your magwell without the expense of buying pads separately. Two pairs of appropriately sized screws complete the set.
I’ve been running a trio of these in a custom SDS .38 Super, and they do exactly what they should do, with zero feeding problems. EdBrown.com
