The 2025 deer rifle hunting season in Pennsylvania officially kicks off after Thanksgiving, lasting from November 29 to December 13. This year also marks a significant change, as hunters can now hunt on Sundays for the first time due to the lifting of a decades-long ban, though hunting is prohibited in State Parks on December 7.
As thousands of hunters head outdoors, safety remains a top priority. Hunters are required to wear at least 250 square inches of fluorescent orange clothing for visibility, while nonhunters are encouraged to do the same, especially on state game lands. Additionally, proper trigger discipline and using safety harnesses while in tree stands are stressed to prevent accidents, as hunting-related falls are a leading cause of injuries and fatalities.
