A Florida man, wanted for armed robbery and false imprisonment, is arrested in Shelby Township, Michigan, thanks to the collaboration between local police and advanced technology. The suspect, who allegedly robbed a gambling establishment in Florida and assaulted an employee, fled to Michigan where he was tracked using the Flock Safety license plate reader system after detectives received tips regarding his family ties in the area.
On November 24, the Shelby Township Police were notified that the suspect’s vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup truck, had been detected multiple times in the vicinity. At approximately 2:13 p.m., officers located the vehicle near 23 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, leading to a prompt traffic stop and arrest. “This case is a clear example of how teamwork and the use of the FLOCK system were able to keep our community safe,” stated Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide.
