Armed Citizen® Today

On the evening of Dec. 10 at a bar in Muncie, Ind., a 53-year-old man allegedly punched a female bartender and then spit on her, on another employee and on another customer.

He then reportedly threw metal barstools and chairs with “immense force” at four other people, causing significant injuries, including broken ribs and collapsed lungs. One of the victims reportedly finally stopped the attack by shooting the assailant, who was later arrested after police found him walking from the scene with a gunshot wound.

The suspect is being charged with multiple felony counts of battery. (fox59.com, Indianapolis, Ind., 12/10/25)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – April 1967

Milton (Bud) Hunter, a Raleigh, N.C. music store employee, saw through a window that two men were holding up a liquor store next door. He got a revolver and started across the alley just as the holdup men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, ran out. One of the thieves threatened to kill Hunter.

He pulled his pistol and shot one of them in the leg. Police later arrested the pair and found $586, taken in the robbery, on one of them. Raleigh Police Chief Tom Davis’ letter of commendation said: “We appreciate this splendid example of good citizenship and initiative.” (The News and Observer, Raleigh, N.C.)
