Tikka’s T3x line of rifles has long been a popular option for many hunters and shooters, and recently, the Finnish company has expanded this line with its T3x Ace Target model, which is specifically designed for competition use. Watch our “American Rifleman Television: Rifleman Review” segment above to see the details of the Ace Target and learn why it’s a great option for those seeking a purpose-built precision platform.
“One of the more popular competition circuits out there right now is in the realm of long range precision shooting, PRS competition, and one of the latest makers to get into the game is Tikka out of Finland,” American Rifleman Executive Editor Evan Brune said.
The starting point for Tikka’s Ace Target model of the T3x was the fact that many shooters were already employing Tikka rifles in competition, but they were dropping the barreled actions into new receivers. Tikka elected to craft a true, purpose-built model for the T3x, but one nice feature of this new model is that it didn’t forget its legacy actions when designing the Ace Target chassis.
“So the big thing on the Ace Target is that’s the name of this target chassis that you see right here,” Brune said. “Now, one nice thing that Tikka did is they made sure that this Ace Target chassis fits all T3x rifle actions, T1x and the original T3 rifle action, so you can drop your barreled action into this target chassis, if you want to.”

The chassis is loaded with customization options, ranging from an adjustable length of pull and comb height to an adjustable, AR-style pistol grip. For those who have a favored AR-15 pistol grip, the chassis will also accept those as well. M-Lok slots on the sides and bottom of the chassis allow for plenty of accessory mounting options, and the bottom of the chassis offers an ARCA Swiss rail, as well as a textured bag stop on the front portion of the magazine well.
“Now this particular model is chambered for the .223 Remington,” Brune said. “For you shooters out there that want something in the short-action range, there is also a 6.5 Creedmoor version of this rifle with a little bit longer barrel, as well as a .308 version.”

As configured from the factory, the Tikka T3x Ace Target is set up with a proprietary detachable box magazine, but the company does offer additional magazine wells that can be added to the chassis, allowing for the use of other magazine designs, including ACIS-pattern magazines for short-action chamberings.
“So if you’re looking for an entry-level PRS competition rifle or something that you just know is going to shoot, the Tikka T3x Ace Target is a really solid platform with a lot of features that you’re going to want and need,” Brune said.
