Part of the Century Arms family, US Palm is known for making magazines, grips and other accessories for AK-platform firearms. This year, the company is branching out to offer suppressors and complete firearms, including its new STORM CAT4 series of rifles and pistols.

Traditionally a manufacturer of AK accessories, this year, US Palm branched out to make AR-type firearms and suppressors.

US Palm calls the CAT4 “a duty-ready rifle built to exceed expectations—delivering premium, $2,000+ rifle performance at an attainable $1,300 price point.” At their core, CAT4 firearms are based on the direct gas impingement AR-15 design. Upper and lower receivers are made of billet 7075-T6 aluminum and given a Type III hardcoat anodized finish.

Based on a direct-impingement AR-15, CAT4 firearms have numerous upgrades engineered by US Palm.

The upper receiver has a user-serviceable hardened steel case deflector/forward assist housing, while the lower has an integrated trigger guard and flared magazine well. Controls are bilateral for fully ambidextrous use, and the safety selector has a 45-degree throw. The fire control components are Hiperfire’s single-stage EDT Designated Marksman trigger.

Both the bolt release and magazine release are mirrored on each side of CAT4 firearms for full ambidexterity.

Chambered for 5.56 NATO, barrels are cold-hammer-forged from 4150 chrome moly steel and have 1:7-inch twist rate rifling and a nitride finish. Both the bolt and barrel extension are given a DLC coating. The aluminum handguard uses US Palm’s Mono-Loc system, attaching to the receiver to allow the barrel to free float. It has both M-Lok accessory slots and a full-length top Picatinny rail.

Known for its firearms accessories, US Palm adds its own unique touch to CAT4 firearms. The Reduced Angle pistol grip was engineered in-house, as was the Hurricane Hybrid Flash Hider, which is designed for both flash suppression and recoil control.

The CAT4 is also available in a pistol configuration with a telescoping stabilizing arm brace.

The STORM CAT4 is available in both rifle and pistol versions. The rifle version uses a 16-inch barrel, a Magpul DT telescoping stock and weighs 7 pounds. The pistol version has an 11.5-inch barrel, a Magpul BTR telescoping stabilizing arm brace and weighs 6 pounds. Both rifles and pistols are available with either an all-black or Storm Green finish and have an MSRP of $1,399. For more information, see the company’s website.
