Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit detectives have arrested a 28-year-old man in Oxnard after discovering he possessed an unserialized AR-15, known as a “ghost gun.” The arrest occurred following a search warrant executed at his residence on Hemlock Street, where detectives also uncovered additional firearms classified as assault weapons, as well as magazines and ammunition. Research released on March 31 by the Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation (OSCF) found there are possibly 73 million people outside the traditional white male demographic who—despite having never tried target shooting before—have a strong interest in doing so. The number is significant, particularly considering the record-breaking growth in firearm ownership already experienced among these audiences in 2020.
