As time goes on, there’s a slow realization that lengthy rifles carry several handicaps. With that, they are gradually shrinking, and, in some scenarios, we’re even finding large-format pistols to be more effective. Short-barreled rifles (SBRs) aren’t new. Prior to the National Firearms Act of 1934, dwarf barrels were commonplace, before being replaced with 16-inch versions, which had become the new legal standard. That law made civilian ownership of SBRs quite rare in the ensuing decades, but it is now at its highest level since before the NFA was passed, particularly with the removal of the $200 tax stamp this…
00:00:10 Speaker 1: From Meat Eaters World News headquarters in Bozeman, Montana. This is Cow’s Week in Review with Ryan cow Calian. Here’s cal. We all know that deer tend to do silly things when they’re in front of a car’s headlights. Well, a white tail deer in New Jersey reacted especially poorly to oncoming traffic on the evening of Tuesday, June nine, when it leapt from a Garden State Parkway overpass and landed right smack on top of a twenty twenty five Tucson traveling on the road below. The diving deer dealt some serious damage to the vehicle and…

The NRA Bylaws provide for the election of one-third of the members of the Board of Directors each year. Those terms of office will expire at the 2027 Annual Meeting of Members in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 24, 2027. Also, any members filling vacancies on the Board that occurred after the last regular election must stand for election in 2027 in the same manner as those whose terms normally expire. Additionally, one Director is elected for a one-year term on the occasion of each Annual Meeting of Members, by a plurality of the votes cast by individual members present in…
For me, drill practice is about isolating a few critical performance elements and pushing them under honest pres- sure. The goal is not to chase perfect runs, but to build a repeatable process that holds up when time, distance and consequences start to stack. Progress comes from consistency, not from the occasional lucky score. The Pistol Standard Xray 2 is a clean, demanding test of pistol fundamentals at distance, combined with a reload and a position change. Shot at 25 yards, it forces you to respect sight picture, trigger control and recoil management while staying aware of the clock. The…

Armed Citizen® Today On June 19 in Blue Springs, Mo., a homeowner called police to report that someone had broken into their home early in the morning. The homeowner shot the intruder, and when police arrived, they pronounced the suspect dead. (fox4kc.com; Kansas City, Mo.; 6/19/26) From the Armed Citizen® Archives – February 1987 Seventy-year-old Eric Christian stepped onto the porch of his Louisville, Ky., home to check a bird feeder when he was attacked by an armed masked man. His 72-year-old wife tried to lock the door, but the man caught her and dragged the elderly couple into the…
It’s important to take firearms seriously, in the sense that they can be dangerous and should always be treated with the respect and care due to an object of that nature. Some people, however, well—they take gun stuff a little too seriously, if you catch my meaning. They don’t allow guns and joy to exist in the same room, sometimes not even in the same ZIP code. Let me file all the identifying information off this story, just in case, and describe to you a customer I once encountered who definitely fit the latter category. Up front, I need to…
It isn’t news to the patriotic members of the National Rifle Association that July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America. As we approach this auspicious milestone, Americans across this great nation should embrace a renewed interest in U.S. history and tradition and an even greater appreciation for the fundamental rights that have helped make this country a beacon of freedom for the world. American history and tradition are of particular importance to gun owners and not just because we value curios and relics and our cultural…
