For just about 16 years now, some variation of the Trijicon RMR red dot sight has set the durability and ruggedness standard for rifle and pistol optics. There are lots of red dot sights on the market — they’re nothing particularly new — but considering the greatest source of resistance to adopting the “new” way of sighting a handgun is the “it’ll just break at the worst possible moment” argument, there’s a lot to be said for one where the primary feature is not breaking. In fact, I’ve (deliberately) thrown, banged and smashed them. On one occasion, when challenged by…
The Taurus 66 is a medium-frame .357 Magnum revolver introduced in 1978. As one of the more popular revolvers in the company’s lineup, in 1999, Taurus updated the design to offer a version that held seven cartridges in the cylinder instead of the six. New for 2025, Taurus is again updating the revolver with the introduction of the 66 Combat, a handgun designed for modern optics and concealed carry. To produce its innovative PR57 handgun, KelTec not only developed a unique design, the company also invested in an entirely new manufacturing facility in Rock Springs, Wyo., specifically to produce the gun. “American Rifleman Television” traveled to this new facility to get an inside look at how they make these pistols and how affordability and manufacturing efficiency are at the top of the company’s priority list. Watch our feature segment above for a look at the PR57 and KelTec’s production process. “All the products we make in Florida and all the products we actually design for KelTec are designed primarily…
00:00:00 Speaker 1: There’s so much that one person can do. People discredit themselves and they minimize the value they have so much. One person can really change the course of things if they’re ambitious enough, if that’s their calling. 00:00:13 Speaker 2: If you will, welcome to Back forty. 00:00:15 Speaker 3: I’m J Koefer, and this week we are diving into a larger question about what can one single person do to make the next twenty five years of hunting better than the last. If you’re listening to this, obviously you want the world of white tal hunting…

Land-line analog telephone service was ubiquitous in most of the 20th Century. This hardware is now commonly Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS). This was our primary means of communication. It was simple, robust, and reliable. A few users still have landline service, although most landline service has migrated to digital means over a public Internet connection, with a modem at the user’s residence converting the digital data back to analog and providing ringer voltage to operate the bell. A lot of these telephones and associated equipment still exist, and are sitting in basements and attics. They could be easily pressed…

I can still smell the gravy. It would wake me up in the early morning darkness, causing me to scramble out from beneath the itchy wool blanket on my cot and shuffle into the kitchen of the cabin. My grandmother would be there, bent over the stove as she stirred the bubbling pan. She’d smile at me and then hand me a plate of biscuits and sausage smothered in the white, tar-thick culinary magic she created. I’d wolf down my plate and with the gravy sticking to my ribs and the first rays of sunlight sparkling in the air, I’d…
Q. We are a father-and-son NRA member tandem in search of an answer regarding the branding of an M1 Garand rifle. We own an M1 rifle that has markings indicating it was a “lend lease to England,” and it also has a .308 barrel/sleeve. The barrel markings do not indicate “NATO 7.62” as other U.S. Navy M1 models do. There are markings near the rear sight, barrel and receiver, but they do not clearly indicate the origins or history of the rifle. What does the “SA-52” marking on the area near the rear sight signify? A. Your rifle’s serial number is the first…
