Fort Worth Man Sentenced for Gun Crimes Linked to Heroin Death

Fort Worth Man Sentenced for Gun Crimes Linked to Heroin Death

A Fort Worth man, Brennan Trainor Rodriguez, is sentenced to 51 months in federal prison for gun charges connected to the 2013 overdose death of T. Boone Pickens’ grandson, Ty Pickens. Rodriguez, who was a former student at Texas Christian University (TCU), admitted to injecting heroin into the 21-year-old Pickens, who subsequently died from the overdose.

While undergoing a 10-year deferred adjudication for dealing heroin, Rodriguez violated his probation by possessing firearms, including a rifle with a machine gun conversion device. His situation escalated after his ex-girlfriend accused him of stalking and harassment, leading to his arrest in August 2024, where police discovered multiple firearms at his residence. Rodriguez is also facing pending state charges for delivery of a controlled substance and stalking.
