Springfield Armory is currently America’s most prolific manufacturer of the traditional, single-stack magazine, metal-framed 1911. None of the company’s production models embody a combination of heritage, performance and value like the Garrison, which the company calls “heirloom-quality.” Since its introduction in 2021, Springfield has expanded the Garrison lineup with a variety of chamberings, barrel lengths and finish options. New for 2026, Springfield is adding to the Garrison family with the Garrison Target.

The Garrison Target adds a fully adjustable rear sight to Springfield’s “heirloom” Garrison 1911 lineup.

The new Target models’ features match those of the original Garrison line. This includes a forged carbon-steel slide and frame with a hot-salt blue finish. The barrel is made of forged stainless steel and given a match-grade chamber and external dimensions. A standard G.I.-style recoil system is used.

Although the design maintains the classic lines of a traditional 1911, Garrison models have enhanced features, including an extended left-side thumb safety and extended beavertail with a raised “memory bump” on the grip safety. The hammer is skeletonized, and the traditional checkered wood grips have a slimline profile.

The Garrison Target comes with a blued finish and is available chambered in either 9 mm (pictured) or .45 ACP.

Where the Target model differs from other Garrison models is in its sighting system, with a fully-adjustable, low-profile rear sight and a front post with a white dot fitted into a dovetail. Target models are full-size with a 5-inch barrel and will be available chambered in 9 mm or .45 ACP. Both variants have an MSRP of $999. One magazine is included with each pistol, as is a padded soft carrying case.

For more information, see the Springfield Garrison Target 9 mm here and Garrison Target .45 ACP here.
