MARS, Inc. has emerged as the winner of the U.S. Army’s xTech Soldier Lethality competition with its cutting-edge 30mm Squad Support Rifle System (SSRS), designed to meet the military’s need for a Precision Grenadier System. A live fire demonstration in April 2025 showcased the SSRS’s ability to engage various enemy targets at different ranges, utilizing advanced grenade ammunition, CQB rounds, and counter-UAS options.
This modular and portable weapon system can effectively strike targets up to 500 meters away and stands out for its innovative design that minimizes recoil, likened to the force of an elephant gun. The SSRS project, which has been years in the making, highlights MARS’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of military technology, with further developments anticipated as the company prepares for the Army’s upcoming PGS Program of Record in early 2026.
