Introduced in 2009, the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 submachine gun was quickly adapted into semi-automatic carbine and large-format pistol configurations for the U.S. market. While its name denotes it is the third generation of Czech Scorpion (originally spelled Skorpion), the U.S. versions evolved even further, with the Scorpion 3+ introduced in 2022. New for 2025, CZ-USA is adding a Magpul Edition to its Scorpion 3+ lineup.

The CZ Scorpion 3+ Magpul Edition has all the 3+ enhancements and adds factory-installed Magpul accessories.

A blowback operated, semi-automatic carbine chambered in 9 mm Luger, the Scorpion 3+ has several updates tailored to the U.S. market, including bilateral controls (safety, bolt release and magazine release) for full ambidexterity. The original Scorpion’s paddle-type magazine release was replaced by a more familiar AR-style button. Upper and lower receiver were re-designed and streamlined.

Magpul parts added to the Scorpion 3+ include a Zhukov-S stock, MOE-EVO grip, MBUS sights, an MVG foregrip and PMAG EV9 magazine.

CZ-USA offered the original Scorpion EVO S3 in an enhanced Mapgul Edition, and the company follows suit with the 3+ version. Magpul components include a folding and telescoping Zhukov-S stock with optional cheek risers, a Scorpion MOE-EVO grip with an enhanced grip angle and Magpul’s proprietary TSP texturing, MBUS front and rear sights, an M-Lok MVG foregrip mounted to the M-Lok slots in the rifle’s handguard, and Magpul’s PMAG EV9 35-round magazine.

The CZ Scorpion 3+ Magpul Edition has a 16” barrel with its muzzle threaded 1/2×28 TPI and a three-prong flash suppressor mounted. It has an overall length of 34” (26.5” with the stock folded), weighs 6.9 lbs., and has an MSRP of $1,499. For more information, see the company’s website.
