Jazmine Chavez, 18, shares her harrowing experience as a survivor of a mass shooting at a Pierce County house party where two people were killed and four others, including herself, were injured. The shooting erupted shortly after a fight at the party, despite earlier 911 calls about the disturbance, as deputies were occupied with other emergencies. As she recovers in the hospital, Chavez emphasizes the need to address gun violence, urging the community to “stop the violence” and find alternative ways to resolve conflicts. In the wake of the tragedy, a 17-year-old suspect has been charged with two counts of murder. Chavez’s family has launched a GoFundMe to help cover her medical expenses as they navigate the aftermath of this horrific event.
