On Valentine’s Day, a man in Spartanburg, S.C. went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and became upset that another man was there with her. The woman and her companion decided to leave, but the ex-boyfriend followed them. He then reportedly rammed their vehicle with his, causing both vehicles to spin out. The ex then exited his vehicle and allegedly attempted to force the woman out of hers as she repeatedly told him to leave her alone. The other man shot the alleged assailant in the chest, ending the attack. The suspect attempted to flee but collapsed nearby.
Police treated the suspect on scene and he now faces two charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and first-degree assault and battery. (wyff4.com, Greenville, S.C., 2/18/26)

After their son received several death threats, an Everett, Wash., couple arranged for an armed neighbor to be at their home when the boy arrived home from school. When the man—a suspect in several sexual assaults on children—broke into the home, the neighbor struggled with and shot him. The intruder fled but was later apprehended by police.
