An armed homeowner in Los Banos, Calif., defended a group of people inside his home from an invasion by five armed men.
On a late evening in March, police say five armed men forced their way into the house. At least four individuals were inside the residence at the time of the break-in. The homeowner responded to the intrusion by arming himself and opening fire. A brief gunfight broke out, during which the homeowner shot two of the five suspects. One intruder was wounded in the leg, and the second intruder was wounded in the stomach. The other three suspects fled the scene, escaping out of a bedroom window to a waiting vehicle.
The two wounded suspects were taken into an area hospital for treatment and remain in custody. Police say they have reason to believe that the suspects were not from the area, and the search continues for the remaining three. (ABC 30 News; Los Banos, Calif.; 3/8/25)

Mrs. Evelyn Jones, 58, of Los Angeles, was sitting on her porch when, shortly after 1 a.m., two strangers approached across her lawn. When she asked what they wanted, one raised a sawed-off .22-cal. rifle in a paper bag and snarled, “Don’t move or I’ll shoot!”
Mrs. Jones’ dog lunged at the man, who fired one wild shot. Mrs. Jones drew the .38-cal. revolver she carries “for protection” and killed the armed intruder. His companion fled. (Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles, Calif.)
