Two men, Nicholas Cozzie, 20, and Jakob Evans, 18, are charged with armed robbery after allegedly robbing a victim of his Xbox and phone in broad daylight in Westmont, Illinois. The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on August 12 when the victim arranged a sale through OfferUp, only to be threatened at gunpoint during the transaction.
Authorities apprehended the suspects less than an hour later after spotting their vehicle, recovering a handgun and a BB gun from inside. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized the risks associated with private sales, advising sellers to take precautions such as meeting in public places and trusting their instincts. The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on September 8.
