A 22-year-old Zachary man, Jahrii Rice, is facing significant legal repercussions after being cited for multiple deer hunting violations in East Baton Rouge Parish. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents allege Rice hunted deer during illegal hours using a spotlight and shotgun, and he exceeded the daily limit by harvesting three deer on the same day, all while his hunting license was revoked.
Authorities discovered Rice cleaning two does and a buck at his residence early on November 14 after receiving reports of illegal hunting activities nearby. The investigation revealed that Rice had previously harvested two bucks under similar illegal circumstances in October. In addition to criminal fines that can reach nearly $3,200 for all offenses, Rice will also face civil restitution for the illegally harvested deer, which were donated to a local charity.
