Argentinean manufacturer Bersa has long been known for its line of compact handguns centered around the company’s Thunder models. Over the past few years, the company has expanded its lineup for the American market, including 1911s, 2011s and AR-15s, and it has also established a manufacturing base in this country. New for 2026, the company is upsizing its polymer-framed, striker-fired BP9cc into the BP9 FS (full-size).
Chambered in 9 mm Luger, while the BP9 FS is similar to the compact carry BP9cc that was introduced to the U.S. market in 2012, it is a new from-the-ground-up design intended for the full-size duty, self-defense and competition markets. The BP9FS uses a polymer frame with a two-slot Picatinny accessory rail on the dustcover and the grip uses Bersa’s “Premium Hex Grip Texture.”
Where the “cc” version of the BP9 uses a single-stack magazine, the BP9 FS uses a proprietary double-column magazine with a capacity of 17 rounds, and two are supplied with each pistol. Expected retail price for magazines is $25. Its magazine release is reversible for right- or left-handed use. Like the BP9cc, the BP9 FS is striker-fired, but unlike the cc version, the FS uses a trigger that has a trigger safety tab and is engineered for a 3.7-pound pull weight and a short reset.
The slide of the BP9 FS is made of 4140 steel and has front and rear slide serrations and lightening cuts. Front and rear sights are mounted in dovetails and use a three-dot system. The pistol is optics ready, with the slide cut for the direct mounting of sights that use a RMSc footprint. With a 4.25-inch barrel, the pistol has a height of 5.3 inches and width of 1.29 inches. It weighs 26.1 ounces. The pistol is compatible with most Glock 17 holsters.
The Bersa BP9 FS will initially be offered in three finish options: all black with a QPQ-finished slide, two tone (black frame and Cerakote-finished gray slide), or flat dark earth (FDE) frame and Cerakote-finished slide. It has an MSRP of $450. For more information, see the company’s website.
