City and state police, along with FBI Boston, are investigating a video circulating on social media that reportedly shows a man with a gun near the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In response to the video, local authorities issued a campus-wide shelter-in-place order, which was lifted a few hours later after confirming the suspect’s departure from the area. As a precaution, classes and events for the day were canceled, and a significant police presence remains at the campus to ensure safety.

The incident has also affected neighboring Middlesex Community College, leading to the cancellation of classes due to heightened police activity. With law enforcement and the FBI actively monitoring the situation, Rep. Lori Trahan is also keeping in touch with officials while advising the public to follow local guidance.
