A 20-year-old man, Landen Strong, leads to multiple school lockdowns in Northern Kentucky after he brings firearms onto the grounds of Walton-Verona Independent School District. Strong faces serious charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, following an alarming incident that triggered intense public concern and numerous 911 calls from anxious parents worried about their children’s safety.
Police apprehend Strong near the school after he panicked upon spotting a cruiser and attempted to conceal two handguns, an AR-15, and a considerable amount of ammunition, along with illicit drugs, by hiding them in nearby woods. His intention to buy a firearm at a nearby residence escalated into a critical situation, prompting a shelter-in-place order for the entire school district during the tense standoff. Strong is currently being held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing later this month.
