A 20-year-old man is pronounced dead following a shooting in Sugar House early Saturday morning, according to Salt Lake City Police. Officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 12:20 a.m. at the intersection of 1300 South and Wilson Ave, where they discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations reveal the shooting resulted from an escalating argument between two groups, culminating in the suspect, 24-year-old Cesar Gonzalez Juarez, drawing a firearm and firing at the victim. Juarez has since been arrested and is facing homicide charges, with the Homicide Squad working alongside the medical examiner’s office to confirm the victim’s identity and notify next-of-kin.
