It’s been decades since a major ammo company has given a .25-caliber rifle cartridge a second glance. Prior to this year, the 57-year-old .25-06 Remington was the most recent quarter-bore to achieve any kind of commercial success, and many had given up on the category after the rise of 6.5mm and 6mm options. But now, inexplicably, the quarter-bore is making a comeback. Hornady released their 25 Creedmoor in May of last year (click here for a deep dive into that cartridge), and just a few weeks ago, Weatherby came out with their own take on the .257–the 25 RPM.I’ve been on…
The catalysts that fuel consumer demand are often surprising, although it’s unlikely firearm-industry analysts failed to predict this one. Now that the price of a National Firearm Act (NFA) tax stamp dropped from $200 to zero, and with .22 LR suppressors proving to be a bargain among the hearing-safety devices, the tea leaves are strongly aligned for a resurgence in rimfire guns, ammo and accessories. The first indication was demand for all suppressors the day the day the price of an NFA tax stamp dropped to zero. On Jan. 1, 2026, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives processed…

Hi-Point Firearms started off the year 2025 with the announcement that the company would eventually be launching its new HP-15 series of AR pistols and carbines. Folks attending the annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nev., were told that the listed prices for these ARs would start under $500. The company stuck to that promise with the “basic black” 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem. carbine, which has a suggested retail price of $499.99. It can be found at some retailers for around $50 less. The braced pistols, chambered in 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem. or .300 BLK, are available for $539.99. The latest additions…
