Rainy days are perfect for shop videos, and this one gave me the chance to spend some time with another product from my friends at Simply Rugged Holsters: the Sundles Ready Rig.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the rig was designed with input from Tim Sundles, founder of Buffalo Bore Ammunition. Tim spends time hunting dangerous game and wanted a shoulder rig that keeps a powerful handgun accessible without getting in the way.

Now, I don’t find myself facing charging rhinoceroses every day, but I do spend plenty of time on my tractor. Over the years, I’ve learned that a good shoulder holster is often the most comfortable way to carry. Cross-draw holsters can poke you, strong-side rigs tend to dig into the seat, but this setup simply works. In fact, the first thing I did after receiving it was take a ride on the tractor — and I came away impressed.

Like everything Simply Rugged builds, the Sundles Ready Rig is custom-made. Whether you carry a revolver or semi-auto, run a weapon light or red dot, or prefer left- or right-hand carry, they’ll build the rig to fit your needs. You can also add magazine pouches, cartridge loops and other accessories. It’s available in black or tan, and there are multiple ways to secure it to your belt for added stability.

As a former police officer, I’ve worn more than my share of shoulder holsters, and this is one of the most comfortable I’ve used. Throw on a light jacket or overshirt, and it conceals surprisingly well.

The complete Sundles Ready Rig starts at $375, with optional accessories available to further customize it. If you’re looking for a premium shoulder holster, I think it’s well worth a look.
