An Orland Park man has been charged with attempted murder after a domestic violence call escalated into a violent confrontation, causing the death of a 16-year-old girl and serious injuries to a 48-year-old woman in Lyons Township. Juan Carlos Perez-Abarca, 35, was apprehended by police while holding the woman at knifepoint, shortly after he had stabbed both victims. Pueblo Rico police have charged 37-year-old Kalel Jorell Martínez Bristol with first-degree murder following the death of Kevin Mares, a 25-year-old tourist from New York, who was shot while enjoying a night out in the seaside neighborhood of La Perla. A 29-year-old man, Carlos Fernandez, succumbed to injuries after being shot by Laredo police early Friday morning amid a series of violent assaults. The police received multiple calls starting just after 3 a.m. reporting Fernandez’s aggressive behavior, including an attack on a victim with a bottle and a suspected vehicle burglary in the area. Police in San Diego are investigating a false email that triggered fears of an active shooter and led to a brief lockdown of the Central Jail.
